Three Wheeled Buggies

Three-wheeled buggies are great for walking around the neighborhood or running. Their compact design makes it easy to maneuver even in tight spaces.

If you want a smooth ride with your baby, opt for models with 360deg front wheels with swivel. However, they are susceptible to punctures so be prepared with a repair kit.

Sturdy frame

New data show that three-wheeled buggies, the emblem of the noughties, which were more expensive than common sense, are in rapid decline. Four-wheelers are replacing them, and are more flexible and simple to drive while still looking stylish.

The bigger the wheels are the better your buggy will cope with bumpy surfaces and uneven pavements. The larger wheels, both front and rear, make it easier to maneuver and more stable while walking downhill or on difficult terrain.

MFM reviewer Kath tested this buggy with an infant and a 3-year-old child and found it to be extremely robust. It was able to withstand cobbles, grass and rough pavements as well as dirt tracks and kerbs. She said that it felt sturdy to push, and very solid on difficult terrain. Its tyres (which are inflatable and require occasional pumping) come with suspension built-in, which was very comfortable for my kids.

Another thing to take into consideration is the size and shape. It should be big enough for your child's comfort. You will also want it to be able to recline so that they can lie flat. Some three-wheel buggies have a lie-flat option that lets your child face you, whereas others only allow a parent-facing one.

A great option for those who want to tackle off-road or muddy walks is the Roma Atlas. This buggy is suitable for a single child from birth, and can be adapted to accommodate two children as your family expands. It is suitable for babies and toddlers from age four and comes with a bumper bar, raincover, an improved 5-point harness, and a large padded seat unit. The storage options are great as well, with a large basket, zip pockets in the hood, and an easy-to-access pouch on the back of the seat unit.

Wheels with larger diameter

Larger wheels mean that your buggy will have more stability on rough terrain - ideal for buggies that are off-road. They also help you maneuver the pushchair 3 wheels through narrow spaces. Many three wheeled buggies (Laba 688 writes) have the front wheels that swivel to assist you in maneuvering around corners with ease, whereas others are specifically designed for running and have fixed front wheels that lock to improve the speed and stability at which they can be driven. This is also useful if you bump against the kerb or a tree. The front wheel can be lifted slightly to keep it from hitting it.

A majority of 3 wheeler buggy wheel pushchairs come with air filled tyres which means they can be used on a variety of terrains and are much more flexible than 4-wheeler. They are also lighter. They are also more susceptible to punctures, and you'll require a repair kit and spare inner tubes on hand.

Some of our favourite 3 wheel stroller set-wheelers include the Mountain Buggy Core and Venicci Carbo Lux. These buggies, as per MFM's Kath, have larger wheels, which according to her "perform well on grass, gravel roads and market town cobbles", and can easily move up and down kerbs. They also have a suspension that Kath says "smooths out bumps with great efficiency".

The downside of having bigger wheels is that they make some buggies quite wide and may struggle to squeeze through narrow spaces. This can be an issue especially if you're using it to an exercise bike or to maneuver through narrow doorways when out and about. Fortunately, the majority of models come with small folding options that allow you to take off the front wheels to make compact storage.

Easy to manoeuvre

One of the main benefits to a three wheel buggy is that it's much easier to maneuver particularly with a child on the way. They are designed to ensure that the front wheels rotate at a moment's notice, and are easy to navigate, making them ideal for difficult terrain like parks, cobblestones, bumpy roads, and dirt tracks.

MFM reviewer Kath tried a 3-wheeler with her newborn and toddler and said: "The Terrain was a pleasure to maneuver over tough terrain, with the swivel front wheel being particularly helpful. I was also awed by how well it handled kerbs when using the hand-operated break. It was extremely stable when for descending or on uneven terrain."

The only drawback of this amazing maneuverability is that the three wheel buggy's bigger wheels sometimes mean it has to struggle in tight spaces - something to be aware of if you live in a urban region. If this is an issue then a 4-wheeled buggy could be the better choice for you.

Bumper bar

Bumper bars protect your child from scrapes and bumps when out and out and about. They are easy and quick to install and make your child feel secure and safe when out in the city or taking on tough terrain.

It is designed to complement the sleek lines of your Slim Twin stroller, this bumper bar features a soft and cushioned surface that offers an ideal place for your child to hold onto when walking. The sturdy construction and durable design will ensure that your child will be capable of enjoying a stroll around the town without worrying about falling or leaning forward.

The fabric sling seat sits in the frame, snugly instead of sitting on top like modular seats do, providing the lower centre of gravity at the appropriate height for your baby and also delivering great weight distribution for a simple kerb pop (it requires less effort to push the buggy over and up a curb than you think). MFM reviewer Kath said it's excellent on cobbles and grass. It's also a good option for running thanks to its air-filled tyres and locking swivel wheels.

This bumper bar is sure to make heads turn wherever it's utilized. It has a sophisticated and fashionable appearance. Available in a variety of colours and finishes that can be customized to fit your style. The bumper bar can be removed and installed using the quick-release mechanism. The bumper bar is also easy to clean since it is constructed of sturdy materials. This makes it a good option for families who want a stylish and safe stroller accessory.

Comfort

A 3 wheel umbrella stroller-wheel buggy provides the best in maneuverability and performance when you go off-road. This type of buggy is easy to steer and can turn on a dime with its perfect geometry, engineering, and weight distribution.

With a fabric sling seat positioned snugly inside the frame, not over it like modular seats, the Sport's smart design allows it to have a lower center of gravity that is the perfect height for your child, providing you with a smoother push, a lighter curb pop (you don't require the same amount of weight or effort to push the nose of your buggy up and over a curb) and a greater balance and stability. With its massive 16 rear wheels and lockable swivel front wheels and air filled tyres that only require occasional pumping, you get smooth, bump-free rides over rough terrain and a smoother and more comfortable jog as well.

The only all-terrain stroller in our collection that has a parent-facing seat that can also accept a car seat or carrycot, you can ensure your family's future is secure and enjoy every adventure - beginning from the first day and for many years to come!

Kath who was our MFM reviewer, also loved the spaciousness of the buggy. There's a large easy-to-access basket that's surprisingly roomy for such a small buggy and there's an easy-to-use pouch that zips up on the back of the seat unit and even two smaller mesh pockets in the hood to keep your phone and keys.
