Three Wheeled Buggies

If you're looking for a buggy to run around in or a compact stroller for the neighborhood, three-wheeled buggies provide great mobility. Their compact design makes it easy to maneuver even in tight spots.

For an easy ride, opt for a pram that has air-filled tyres and look for models with 360deg front swivel wheels. However, they are more prone to punctures, so make sure you are prepared with a repair kit.

Sturdy frame

Figures have just been released revealing that the three-wheeled buggie which was a symbol of the decade of more money than sanity is on the verge of disappearing. They've been replaced with four-wheelers that are able to be more versatile in terrain, while also looking elegant and easy to push.

The general principle is that the larger the wheels are, the easier it will be for your buggy to deal with bumpy and rough pavements. The larger wheels both rear and front allow you to maneuver and more stable while walking downhill or over difficult terrain.

MFM reviewer Kath tried the buggy with a newborn and a 3 Wheeled Pushchair year old and found that it coped well with cobbles, grass rough pavements, dirt tracks and kerbs. She noted that it was solid to push and very stable on difficult terrain. The tyres, which are inflatable and need to be pumped up regularly, have built-in suspension. This was very comfortable for my kids.

The size and shape of the seat is another aspect to think about. You want the seat to be large enough for your child to feel comfortable and to allow them to lie down. Certain three-wheel buggies come with a lie-flat option that allows the child to face you, while other buggies only allow a parent-facing one.

A great option for those who want to tackle off-road and muddy walks is the Roma Atlas. This buggy is ideal for a single child as early as birth and can be modified to accommodate two children as your family expands. It is suitable for toddlers and infants from birth to age 4 and includes a bumper with a rain cover, an upgraded 5-point harness, and a big cushioned seat. The storage options are good as well, with a large basket, zip pockets in the hood, and an easy-to-access pouch on the rear of the seat unit.

Wheels with larger diameter

Larger wheels mean that your buggy will be more stable on rough terrain - perfect for buggies designed for off-road use. They also make it easier to move the pushchair around tight spaces. Some three-wheeled buggies come with swivel wheels at the front to aid in maneuvering around tight corners. Others are designed for running and have fixed wheels that lock to provide increased speed and stability. This also helps in the event that you hit a tree root or stray road, as the front wheel will rise up slightly to prevent you from hitting it.

Many 3 wheel pushchair sale wheeled pushchairs have air-filled tyres, which allows them to handle a wide range of terrains. They are also more flexible than 4 wheelers. They also tend to be lighter. They are more prone to punctures, so you will need to have an repair kit and spare inner tube in your arsenal.

Some of our favourite 3 wheel buggy for sale-wheelers include the Mountain Buggy Core and Venicci Carbo Lux. These buggies, according to MFM's Kath, have larger wheels that according to her "perform well on gravel roads, grass and market town cobbles", and can easily climb or descend kerbs. They also have a suspension system which according to her "smoothes out bumps with great efficiency".

Buggies with larger wheels may be quite wide, and can be difficult to fit into narrow spaces. This is an issue if you plan to are using it as a jogger, or need to fit through doorways that are narrow when on the move. Luckily, most models have small folding options that allow you to remove the front wheels to make compact storage.

Easy to Manoeuvre

One of the major advantages of a three-wheel buggy is that it is much easier to maneuver especially with a child on the way. The way in which they are built means that the front wheels spin at a whim and are extremely easy to manoeuvre and are ideal for difficult terrain such as parks, cobbles or bumpy pavements, as well as dirt tracks.

MFM reviewer Kath tested a 3 wheel baby stroller wheeler with her toddler and newborn and wrote: "The Terrain was a delight to maneuver on the ground and the swivel front wheel being especially helpful. I was also awed by the way it handled kerbs when using the hand-operated break. I found it to be extremely steady when I was driving downhill or over uneven ground."

The only drawback of this amazing maneuverability is that the 3 wheel buggy's bigger wheels sometimes mean it has to be difficult to maneuver in tight spaces - something to keep in mind if you live in a city area. If this is the case then a four-wheeled buggy might be the better choice for you.

Comfort

The sport's clever design puts the fabric sling seat within the frame, instead of sitting on top as modular seats. Kath who was our MFM reviewer, also loved the space of this buggy. There's a nimble, large basket that is surprisingly spacious for a buggy of this size. There's also an excellent pouch on the back of the unit, and two smaller mesh pockets underneath the hood where you can keep your keys and phone.
