How to Replace an audi q7 key G28 Engine Speed Sensor

Charles the Humble Technician teaches you how to replace the G28 Engine Speed Sensor. The sensor is located near the edges of the transmission, above the flywheel ring gear. It transmits a signal the ECU via a grey wire (T55/49) which is then sent to the tachometer within the instrument cluster.

1. Engine Speed Sensor

It is located on the outside of the transmission, above the flywheel ring gear the G28 Engine Speed Sensor sends an electrical signal to ECU pin T55/49 through an uncolored wire. The ECU utilizes this information to regulate fuel and boost. It also sends signals to the G5 tachometer in the instrument cluster.

2. Injectors

Yesterday, while accelerating from the highway paytoll at a high speed, i noticed a huge decrease in power. It was as if the engine had run out of gas. Or, my injectors were not firing. I pulled out the spark plugs this morning, three were soaked in gasoline, and the fourth was dry. When I crank the engine with no sparks, I put a piece of tissue on top of each injector hole, the 3 drenched with gazoline leap out, however the 4th stays shut. I inspected the ground connection on ECU pins 14/55/30/55/48/55/14/55/48/ i get zero ohm. I'm assuming the issue is elsewhere.

I also tried to reset PID without success. The car is able to start if the G28 is unplugged and runs fine when it is connected however it has intermittent misfire issues at higher RPM. The temperature sensor for coolant (G62) shows the wrong temp value -49c, even if I unplug it. Also i noticed that the gauge for oil pressure in the cockpit shows 2 bar while the actual pressure is 0.0 if i crank up the engine.

I'm not sure what to do. I think I've all other possibilities out. I'm concerned that i may have missed something. If anyone has suggestions, please chime in! TIA!

3. Fuel Pump

The fuel pump in the g28 receives a signal from the RPM sensor. The GM-style transmitter is similar to the G4 sender and both work on the 80,100,200, UrS, and RS2 vehicles.
